Exhibiting The Art In Telling And Showing (Eats) For Kindergarten Learners: A Wordless Picture Activity
Abstract
This research intends to provide an intervention strategy known as “Wordless Picture Activity” for the identified 14 Kindergarten learners of West City Elementary School who manifested developmental delays on Expressive Language. This aimed to exhibit their skills in telling and showing through the images shown and guide questions to be answered. The research utilized the descriptive survey with the Contextualized Early Childhood Development Checklist on Expressive Language Domain as the instrument in the process of gathering the data. In the treatment of the data, the researcher employed the following statistical tools: frequency and percentage to find out how many are progressing after the conduct of the intervention. With the utilization of the Wordless Picture Activity coupled with the checklist in the process of doing the question and answer activity, it gave significant contribution as Post test results revealed that 9 out of 14 or 64% of the kindergarten learners have demonstrated the skill in component 8 “Makasugilon ug makasubay sa mga panghitabo.” Moreover, 11 out of 14 or 79 % of the respondents acquire the skills on the following components: Nakasasagot ng mga “ano” na tanong ( component 6) also “sino” at “bakit” na tanong ( component 7). This research further disclosed that the Wordless Picture Activity has contributed to the acquisition of the competencies needed in the development of the learners’ expressive language domain hence, utilization of this strategy is recommended.
